Update 2005
A group of us have worked for years to get a viable National Organisation ready to provide a voice and to influence policy, services, practice and legislation.
I am in the process of commencing the development of a website to better keep everyone interested informed.
We have purchased www.voxscotland.org.uk-so please keep trying that URL because eventually we will have an informative site there.
As some of you may know, as early as 2002 we began to meet to discuss the creation (again) of a body to amplify and encourage the voices of people who have, or have had, mental health problems.
A ground-breaking conference was put together by us, with a little help from our friends. This was the Dundee-User, Consumer, Survivor, Refuser conference in June 2004.
Since then we have worked to implement the findings and outcomes from the conference, formed a business case for a National Organisation and recorded the conference methods as examples of excellent practice.
The group were called Scottish Informal Network (SIN) then userforward and we have finally settled on VOX.
Please bear with me while I work in my spare time to develop Vox's first website.

More update 2005
More update 2005
Our thanks go to all the people who have helped us get to the stage we have reached.
All the people who have been involved in the past meetings and steering groups, SAMH for past hosting and advice and MHF Scotland for current hosting.
Most importantly though, all of the amazing people who attended the Dundee conference and all of the people in Scotland who have encouraged us to stick with this task as something which is needed and valuable.
Let me stress that although I have put my mugshot on the first page, that is just because we have not, as yet, developed a logo, or identity.
So I am happy to be the temporary "face" of VOX.
We apologise for the time it has taken to get things to this stage, but we wanted to ensure that we were getting this right. In order that what we were creating was going to be viable, sustainable, creative and as open and representative as these organisations can be.
I am the owner of this site, but it will be replaced with the official site once it has been developed, approved etc.
So apologies for the home-made format of this site.
We are currently being hosted by the Mental Health Foundation (Scotland) who can be contacted on 0141 572 0125. They may not be able to answer specific enquiries however so I am happy to be contacted by e-mail at the address on the home page or by post.I will then put any queries to my colleagues. Contact me :
Shaun McNeil, c/o 69 Glen Road, Wishaw, ML2 7NP, North Lanarkshire. Thanks to everyone involved....you know who you are and see you on www.voxscotland.org.uk very soon!
Finally, if any of my colleagues want to comment/ add/ delete anything from the site please let me know. I know it aint great but I wanted to get something out there asap! Sorry if I have stood on toes!
