Eating Disorder Activist Group

Event Date:
06/08/11

Eating Disorders Activist Group (Scotland)

In June 2011 a group of people decided, to start a completely new group called the Eating Disorders Activist Group (Scotland) or EDAGS for short, this would fill the current gap in awareness raising, campaigning and networking around the topic of Eating Disorders in Scotland. THE FIRST INFORMAL MEETING WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY 6TH AUGUST 2011 AT 2-4PM IN GLASGOW CALEDONIAN UNIVERSITY.

Please note this is an experience/user-led group, although we welcome anyone to join who has a serious interest in eating disorders in Scotland.

Please register with the meet up group to attend and for more information including directions to the room and the agenda. The group are only at the initial stages, scoping interest and putting together a functioning group. The main purposes of the group, as it stands just now, will be to raise awareness and campaign for better understanding and support for people with eating disorders, of all ages, and to lobby for better services. It will also hopefully act as a network for any group or individual doing any work relating to eating disorders. They are looking for anyone with an interest in the topic to get involved. If anyone can offer any kind of support to the group this would be most gratefully received. The group will need various skills and lots of enthusiasm to make this work, help with organising meetings, administration support, people to work with the media, promotion and develop awareness campaigns, keep webpages updated, coordinate networking, deal with any funding activities.... it sounds a lot - but many hands make light work!

Please join the meet up group http://www.meetup.com/EDAG-S or email EDAGS@rocketmail.com for more information.
